Remarks: Thomas Bowles' very rare and decorative view of London shows the city in 1751. From a bird's eye view, from a point high above Tower Bridge, the viewer looks upriver to the east. To the right can be seen the city's churches, including St Paul's, the memorial to the Fire of London, and in the distance Westminster Abbey and the 'old' London Bridge, before its houses were removed. Later views by Bowles and Bowles & Carver show the same view but without these buildings. This rare and very decorative view of London was drawn by Thomas Bowles II and published by Robert Sayer in 1753. It shows the city in 1751. A bird's eye view from a point high above Tower Bridge, looking east up the river Thames, the city's churches are visible on the right, including St. Paul's, the memorial to the F.
