Beautiful Franz Beck Antique German Litho From Nightmarish Portfolio 8/11 FINE

Up for sale is a rare lithograph by the talented German expressionist artist Franz Beck. This particular image came from a portfolio of 11 prints depicting a selection of dreamy/nightmarish images. This image stands out from among the others as it shows an expressionist landscape that I find quite attractive. This dreamy expressionist landscape shows three tall looming trees under a black whirling sky. This portfolio contains works dating from 1919-1921 while Beck was attending the Hamburg School of Applied Arts. The full sheet measures 13.75 x 11.25 inches while the work is mounted to a heavier paper measuring 14.75 x 12.25 inches. This portfolio I believe was inspired by Alfred Kubin's 15 print portfolio Faksimiledrucke Nach Kunstblättern published in 1903. Alfred and Franz became close friends and inspiration was clearly taken when comparing the two sets of works. This portfolio of prints is centered around dreamy landscapes, nightmarish monsters and death. Franz Beck was inspired by Emil Nolde as well as Leopold Graf von Kalckreuth, Heinrich Vogeler and close personal friends with wonderful Alfred Kubin. This image is on excellent condition showing only minimal signs of light handling and wrinkling/creases as well as minor foxing and discoloration but has never been framed or removed from the closed portfolio of works until now.
