This is a matted antique engraving from Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper, a weekly newspaper published in 1878. The prints in this series have text on the reverse, and are printed on what is called rag paper, an antique paper that is stronger and far more durable than the newspaper material we use today. No tears. A really fine image. Excellent definition. Nice clean, sharp lines, and wide margins. This print is about 145 years old and guaranteed to be original. It is an authentic old print from the aforementioned newspaper and NOT A MODERN REPRODUCTION.The visible part of the print, including the white border (if any) is about 10" x 15". Matted the print measures 16" x 20".
